• Dr. Baldev Raj has been awarded the prestigious the National Metallurgist Award-2007 (Research-Academy) by Ministry of Steel, Govt. of India and Indian Institute of Metals. He has been awarded the prestigious Life Time Achievement Award of Indian Institute of Welding. He has also received Stanley Ehrilich Gold Medal during the National Symposium on Acoustics (NSA-2007).

• Shri S.C. Chetal, Reactor Engineering Group has been conferred National Design Award by the Institution of Engineers, India.

• Dr. M. Vijayalakshmi, Physical Metallurgy Division has been awarded the Metallurgist of the Year Award for the year 2007 by Ministry of steels, Govt. of India and Indian Institute of Metals.

• Dr. C.K.Mukhopadhyay, Non-Destructive Examination Division has been selected to receive the ISNT National NDT Award under the category excellence in contribution to research & development, jointly
  sponsored by ISNT & M/s. Electronic & Engineering Co., Mumbai, for the year 2007.

• Dr. A. K. Tyagi, Materials Science Division has been awarded the MRSI Medal for the year 2008 by Materials Research Society of India (MRSI).

• IGCAR has won the First Prize for the category “Mass Awareness Campaign” for the year 2006-07. The apex national PR body, Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) has honoured the Centre for its team efforts in the mass campaign for the role of Fast Breeder Reactors in ensuring the energy security for India.

• Shri. N.R. Karthikeyan from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore has been conferred the Innovative Student of Projects Award 2007 of INAE for his project work on Study of thermal properties of copper and copper oxide nanofluids, carried out at NDED, IGCAR during December 06-April 07.

• Shri Sumantra Mandal from Materials Development and Characterization Group has been awarded INAE Young Engineer Awarded for the year 2007.

• Dr. S. Ningshen has been awarded the NACE International India Section (NIIS) best Ph.D award in the field of Corrosion Science for the year 2007.

• Dr. Anish Kumar, Metallurgy & Materials Group has won the INSA Young Scientist Award for the year 2007

• Dr. Baldev Raj  has been honored with the prestigious Padmashri  Award by Government of India. He has also received the Meritorious Contribution Award for 2006 from NACE International India Section.

• Dr. P. Chellapandi, Reactor Engineering Group has been awarded "Mechanical Engineering Design Award - 2006" by The Institution of Engineers, India.

• Mrs. B. Sasi, Non-destructive Evaluation Division has been awarded R.Chandrasekhar Memorial Prize for Best Industry - oriented research work during National Seminar on Physics & Technology of Sensors(NSPTS-12) held during March 2007 at Mumbai.

• Dr. Baldev Raj  has been conferred with the honorary Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) by Satyabama Institute of Science & Technology (Deemed University), Chennai. He has been elected as Honorary Member of Indian Institute of Metals and Honorary Fellow of Indian Welding Society. He has delivered the following honour lectures, Stanley Ehrlich Distinguished Lecture and Gold Medal, Acoustical Foundation for Education and Charitable Trust, India (2006), International Recognition Award, Indian Society for Non-Destructive Testing (2006)

• Dr. P.V. Sivaprasad, Materials Technology Division has been awarded the "Metallurgist of the year" for the year 2006 by the Ministry of Steel, GOI.

•  Dr. A.K. Bhaduri, Material Technology Division  has been elected as the Fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering from January 2007.

• Shri. P. Sukumar, Non-Destructive Evaluation Division and Shri N. Vinayagam, Central Workshop Division, have been awarded the "DAE Meritorious Service Award" for the year 2005.

• Shri. R. Subbaratnam, QA7NDTS won the prestigious "NDE man of the year Award" for the year 2006.

• STAR Quality Circle of CWD has got the "Distinguished Award" during 20th National Convention of Quality Circle (NCQC-2006) presentations at IIT, Kanpur, during December 2006

• Dr. Baldev Raj  has been elected to the Board of Directors of the International Institute of Welding. He has been elected as a Fellow of Third World Academy of Sciences (TWAS)

• The Indian Nuclear Society (INS) Award for the year 2005 has given to Dr. P. Chellapandi, REG.

• The INS Medals for the year 2005 have been conferred on Dr. B. Venkataraman, ESG and Dr. Shaju K. Albert, MMG.

• Dr. C.S. Sundar, MMG, has been awarded the MRSI-ICSC Superconductivity & Materials Science Annual Prize for the year 2007.

•  Mrs. C. Sudha of Physical Metallurgy Section, MMG has won the Shri. Ram Arora Award for the year 2007.

• DAE Exhibition pavilion, put up during 6^th International Trade Fair and conference on "Minerals, Metals, Metallurgy & Materials" commemorating the IIM Diamond Jubilee celebrations during September 11-14, 2006 has won the Commendation Award for showcasing the products, technologies and services.

• Dr. Baldev Raj  has been conferred with prestigious 14^th Nayudamma Memorial Award, instituted by Dr. Y. Nayudamma Memorial Trust, Tenali, Andhra Pradesh for the year 2005 for his significant contributions in the area of Fast Reactor Science and Technology.

• Dr. S. Venugopal has been elected as a Fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE).

• Indian Chemical Institute (ICI), India, IIChE-NOCIL Award for excellence in Design or Development of Process and equipment for the year 2005 has been awarded to Dr. Baldev Raj, Shri R.Natarajan, Dr. S.B.Koganti, Shri. M.Venkataraman, Shri. V.Sundararaman and Shri. A.Ravishankar of Reprocessing Group (RpG) for their work in "Fuel Reprocessing of Unique Plutonium based Carbide Fuel".

• Indian Chemical Institute (ICI), India IIChE Award for excellence in Process or Product Development for the year 2005 has been awarded to Dr. C.Anand Babu, Dr. B.K.Sharma and Shri. G.Mohanakrishnan of Fast Reactor Technology Group (FRTG) for their work on "Ion exchange chromotographic separation of isotopes of boron"

Dr. Baldev Raj, Director, IGCAR has been awarded the prestigious INS Award for the year 2004. The award was presented by Honourable Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh

• Dr. Baldev Raj  has been awarded the prestigious Indian Nuclear Society (INS) Award for the year 2004. He has been elected President of Indian Institite of Metals. He has also been elected Fellow of The Indian National Science Academy (INSA), New Delhi. He has been conferred with a honorary doctorate by Sathyabama University, Chennai for his contributions in the field of Science and Technology of Fast Reactors

• Dr. U. Kamachi Mudali, Corrosion Science & Technology (CSTD) was awarded the INS Medal for the year 2004. He has been awarded the prestigious Metallurgist of the year award for 2005 by Ministry of Steels & Mines. He has also been awarded the Homi Bhabha Science & Technology Award for the year 2004.

• Dr. K.G.M. Nair, Materials Science Division (MSD) has been selected for the Materials Research Society of India (MRSI) Medal Lecture for the year 2006.

• Dr. A.K. Arora, MSD has been awarded the Prof. Y.T. Thathachari Memorial Research Award, Mysore for the year 2005 in the area of physical sciences

• Dr. Baldev Raj has been awarded the Lifetime achievement award for the year 2004 by the Indian Welding Society for his contributions to the field of Welding, during February 2005.

• Dr. Baldev Raj has also been awarded the prestigious Jaeger Lecture Award by the International Institute of Welding. The award was given on February 16, 2005 by the President, International Institute of Welding during the International Welding Congress at Mumbai. Dr. Baldev Raj is the first Indian to receive this award in recognition of his research as well as the impact of his contribution in the area of Welding Science & Technology.

• The paper entitled "Development of activated Flux for Tungsten Inert Gas Welding of 304L(N) Austenitic Stainless Steel" by V. Ramasubbu, S.K. Albert, A.K. Bhaduri and S.K. Ray was awarded the H.D. Govindaraj Memorial Award for the Best Paper on Research & Development.

• The paper entitled "High Temperature Performance of Steam Generator Transition Joints between modified 9Cr-1Mo Steel and Alloy 800" by M. Sireesha (IIT-M), S. Sundaresan (IIT-M) and S.K. Albert was awarded the KCP Award for the First Best paper on Fabrication.

The above two awards were presented during the inaugural ceremony of International Welding Congress (IIW-IC-2005), Mumbai on February 16^th 2005.

Dr. Baldev Raj has been selected ISNT Lifetime achievement award for the year 2004 by the Indian Society for Non-destructive Testing (ISNT), for his significant and outstanding contributions to the cause of NDE Science & Technology. He had also been awarded Raman Chandrasekhar Interdisciplinary Award by Accoustical Foundation for Education and Charitable Trust during Annual Meeting of the Accoustical Society of India at Mysore during December 2004.

Corrosion Science & Technology Division (CSTD) had been conferred with the prestigious NIIS Award for a National Laboratory Award by NACE International Indian Section (NIIS) for the year 2004.
