Award for
IGCAR director

CHENNAI JUNE 1. Baldev Raj, a distinguished scientist and Director, Indira
Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, (IGCAR), Kalpakkam, has been selected for the
prestigious International Committee of Non-Destructive (ICNDT) Testing Research
Award for 2000-2004.
This award is in recognition of his research and the impact of his contribution
in the area of Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) Science and Technology. The
award is given to the best researcher internationally once in four years. It is
open for competition among 65 countries, which are members of the ICNDT.
Anish Kumar, a Ph.D student of Dr. Baldev Raj gets the Young Achiever award
(2000-2004) from the same forum for his contribution in "Materials
characterisation using ultrasound methodology and modelling."
According to an IGCAR release, the awards would be presented during the
inaugural ceremony of the 16th World Conference on NDT at Montreal, Canada, in
August this year.
