Mandate

Technical Co-ordination & Quality Management Division (TC&QMD) is primarily responsible for quality control and manufacturing processes development of the equipments for IGCAR manufactured in the western region of the country. It also supports in sourcing of raw material and identifying the suitable suppliers in the western region. TC&QMD also participates in coordination activities being carried out at BARC towards meeting the mandate of IGCAR, BHAVINI and FRFCF.
TC&QMD provides technical co-ordination services for the Centre with BARC, DAE and its units. It also participates, Public Awareness activities in the western part of India.

Achievements / Highlights

Achievements

Quality control of: Fabrication of Steam generator (SG) for SGTF, Annular Linear Induction Pumps (ALIP); High Temperature Electro Refiner (HTER); LLW tanks; Titanium sponge reactor, welding development of Tri-junction forging and it NDE, 800 mm thick Narrow gap submerged arc welding development and NDE qualification, Development of PFBR steam to steam Re-heater etc.
Actively participated in the development of high temperature fission chamber (HTFC); Under sodium ultra sonic scanner (USUSC) and other coordination projects.
Participated in the in PFBR shielding experiments at APSARA and carried out shielding corner modification, shielding optimization, activation foils irradiation and obtained regulatory clearances for the experiments.

Highlights

TC&QMD carries out inspection for POs in the western part of the country.
TC&QMD plays pivotal role in the manufacture of critical components for technology developments aimed to PFBR and FRFCF.
It acts as an important bridge between domain expert, designer and manufacturer.
It represents IGCAR activities at national level events and exhibitions.

Expertise

TC&QMD has wide experience in quality control, manufacturing process development and fabrication of reactor and reprocessing plant components, sourcing of raw materials and their mechanical & chemical testing of materials. It also has experience in functional testing of electrical & electronic components. TC&QMD has also provided comparative technical capability of Manufacturing Firms and evaluate their suitability to award the projects.
